Actividad geomagnética y sus relación con la dirección del campo magnético interplanetario

Resumen
Se llevó a cabo un análisis de correlación entre las medias trihorarias de las componentes solar-magnetosféricas, norte y sur, del campo magnético interplanetario y los valores del índice de perturbación magnética Kp correspondientes al período 1964-1969, tomando en cuenta además la dirección del campo magnético en el piano de la eclíptica. Los resultados muestran que campos dirigidos hacia el Sol tienden a ser más efectivos en la producción de actividad geomagnética que campos con dirección opuesta. Los resultados se explican cualitativamente en términos de la posible existencia de una estructura helio-latitudinal, tanto de las propiedades del plasma solar, como de las del campo magnético interplanetario.
