Abstract
Based on the calculation of average N(h) profiles, experimental results from 4 months of minimum and 4 months of maximum solar activity were compared with the modelling predictions from the "International Reference Ionosphere" (IRI). The IRI models reasonably the region of the F2 peak in Cuba, while discrepancies increase notably with decreasing height. Generally, the agreement between the model and experimental data shows no clear dependences on the solar activity. It is grater during the day at equinox than in nocturnal and solsticial conditions.
