A dynamical model for investigating the effects of periodic heat sources on the equatorial stratosphere

Abstract
A 26-month cycle in the E.W. component of the wind at about 25 mb has been observed in the equatorial regions. A theoretical model has been devised to investigate whether the existence of periodic heat sources in the atmosphere could produce motions of the observed period and amplitude.
