Abstract

Several zones of five degrees of activity for the central region of the Mexican Volcanic Belt are established by means of a quantification of quaternary volcanos in areas of 100 km². The zones of major activity correspond to concentrations of 9, 12 and more volcanos in 100 km². These zones are six and occupy relatively small areas with mountain relieves in a state of evolution. There are also zones of low concentration of very young volcanos, testifying an incipient activity. Other zones are stable, with a pliocenic mountain relief. AlI this allows to found the consideration that vuicanism in the Mexican Volcanic Belt presents higher intensity in some areas during specific lapses, intensity that "migrates" eventually to other zones
