Abstract

Doctors Turcotte and Schubert have distinguished themselves for their various studies on the convection process inside the Earth, through the use of the principles of the Physics of the Continuum and Fluid Dynamics. Under this same point of view, the book by these authors emphasizes the use of continuum physics for the analysis of the processes that take place in the dynamic interaction between the plates that make up the earth's crust, the lithosphere and the asthenosphere. This aspect represents a novel treatment for a textbook, which can serve both at the bachelor's level and at the master's level.
