Reconocimiento estructural y volcanológico en Ia zona termal del Domo San Pedro Lagunillas, Nayarit, Mexico

Abstract

Volcanic activity in southern Nayarit (Mexico) is described. Earthquakes felt at San Pedro Lagunillas and Las Guasimas on 4 and 16 September 1987 may be associated to magma movements beneath the Los Ocotes dome. The San Pedro dome may have developed within a calderic structure of Plio-Quaternary age. The study area was mapped, and structural and volcanologic relationships of geothermal significance were determined. Relationships with the thermal activity present in the San Pedro Dome area and with other recent volcanism are suggested.
