Abstract

A comparative analysis of Pi2 pulsations registered in the magnetosphere and on the Earth's surface, was done using magnetograms from the satellites GOES-2 and SMS-2 and from two ob-servatories at Earth (Rio Carpintero and Soroa). Morphological differences between Pi2 in both types of magnetograms, is interpreted assuming a theoretical model in which it is proposed to consider the ionospheric action over these pulsations as that of a pass-band filter. It is shown that phase analysis is a proper method for the discrimination of Pi2 forming a wave train.
