Las invasiones de aire frío en los trópicos a sotavento de las montañas rocallosas.

Abstract

Most of the meridional energy transport in the Northern Hemisphere, is carried out by the wind systems of large storms traveling between 35° and 55 °. Barriers such as the Rocky Mountains channel cold air outbreaks (Nortes) that sweep over tropical North-America (Mexico and Central-America) producing there maximum meridional heat flow. A description and frequency of several types of cold outbreaks crossing over Mexico is made; the resulting heat exchange is also examined.
