Abstract
In addition to their close physical linkage, convection and air-sea boundary exchange have the further tie of both being in need of a major breakthrough. Studies in each of these areas are approaching formidable barriers; in each case the barrier might be categorized as the interaction of the many scales of atmospheric motions
