Levantamiento de la corteza terrestre en Puerto Ángel, Oax. Detectado por observaciones mareográficas
Main Article Content
Abstract
Hourly tide-gage readings for the Pacific coastal stalions at Salina Cruz, Oax., Puerto Angel, Oax., Manzanillo, Col., and Acapulco, Gro., are compared, and an anomaly is found in the mean annual sea level at Puerto Angel after 1966. Numerical filtering of the data, using Groves'F49 filler, allows a precise discrimination of the anomaly from the largeamplitude daily fluctuations at Puerto Angel. A gradual deseent of the mean sea leve occurs over a period of two weeks after january 17, 1966; this change is compared to the hourly forecasts of the tide at Puerto Angel. The anomaly is attributed lo a coastal uplifl of order 14 cm during an episode of local seismic activity. The uplifl did nol subside during the following year and may be considered permanent.
