Identification of the sun glint in apt pictures by computation of its azimuth and distance
Main Article Content
Abstract
The Sun rays' reflexion over oceanic arcas is very often obtained in APT pictures as a brilliant spot (Sun glint), whkh is easily discernible when found near the edge of a continental arca, giving then a very clear-cut delineation of the coast. However, when there is an extensive cloud cover, the Sun glint laying in cloud breaks or on cloudy arcas may also very easily be confused with a rounded cloud system. Therefore, it is convenient to be able to locate it unmistakably by some means in order to discount its effects upoil interpretation and usage of APT cloud pictures from meteorological satellites
