Abstract

As gravity values are becoming increasingly important for various geodetic and geophysical studies, and as there is a certain degree of confusion in regard to gravity base values in Central and Soulh America, the authors have undertaken a review and analysis of published gravity values in the arca and endeavored to prepare a set of reliable values that can be used: (a) for establishing the absolute datum of local gravity surveys; (b) for the calibration standards being used by different groups; and (c) as control values for adjusting gravity anomaly maps to a common calibration standard and datum through anomaly comparison where the original observational data are not available.
