Abstract

Survey of observational data on des_ert dust storms and physical properties of dust (with emphasis on results from complex observational programs accomplished in the USSR) has been given. Satellite observations of dust storms and their consequences have been considered in detail. The impact of dust storms on the radiative regime of the atmosphere and on the environment in general has been discussed.
