On the growth of the hurricane depression, a summary.

Abstract
It is shown that the frictional indraft of moist air in a conditionally unstable tropical atmosphere will cause a small-amplitude axially- symmetric disturbance of cyclone scale to amplify. The growth mechanism involves a cooperative interaction between the individual cumulus cells and the large-scale disturbance. The cumulus cells in the region of frictional indraft supply the disturbance with latent heat energy, and the disturbance supplies the cumulus cells with moisture.
