Abstract

Millisecond scale radio spikes associated with nonthermal coherent emission are closely related to particle acceleration and energy release in flares. In this paper we describe the various characteristics of these phenomena as well as their relation to other solar emissions. We also outline a theoretical framework of the spike emission process and some efforts made in Mexico City to observe solar microwave burst at 4 cm wavelength with a time resolution of milliseconds.
