Methods in rock magnetism and palaeomagnetism / D.W. Collinson
Main Article Content
Abstract
The development of research in paleomagnetism and rock magnetism has been accompanied and based on the development of instruments and techniques. This book by Dr. D. W. Collinson synthesizes and discusses some of the abundant published material on instruments and techniques, much of which has been developed in the Department of Geophysics and Planetary Physics at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, Great Britain. The paleomagnetism and rock magnetism research group at this University has made important contributions since the early 1950s (see, for example, references to works by S. K. Runcorn, K. M. Creer, D. H. Tarling, D. W. Collinson, W. O'Reilly, A. Stephenson, L. Molyneux, A. de Sa, F. J. Lowes and others) and their rock magnetism and paleomagnetism laboratories at 'Close House' and in the School of Physics have a large number of instruments for a very wide range Of applications.
