This invitation was enthusiastically accepted and plans were laid to gather in Mexico on the occasion of the July 11, 1991 total solar eclipse. Through the dedicated work of the entire staff of the Department of Space Physics of the Institute of Geophysics of the National University of Mexico and the Mexican Geophysical Union the Second Conference was successfully conducted with the participation of 55 space physics scientists from Latin America and other regions. The conference included 13 invited lectures and 77 contributed papers, on topics such as Solar Terrestrial Physics, Solar-Terrestrial Relationships, Studies of the Earth's Ionosphere, Magnetospheric, Planetary and Interplanetary Physics, and Cosmic Rays.
