Viscoelastic material admitting simple waves
Main Article Content
Abstract
Recent work on the theory of materials with memory (Coleman, B. D. and M. E. Curtin, 1965a, 1965b; Coleman, B. D., M. E. Curtin and I. Herrera, 1965; Herrera, I. and M. E. Curtin, 1965; Varley, E., 1965) concerned with tlw study of singular surfaces in such materials has enlightened very much the basic structure of the governing equations of motion. It has been shown that under an appropriate smoothness hypothesis they behave in many respects like hyperbolic partial differential equations.
