Abstract

Isotopic determinations of o13CCH4 y o13Co2 and 1)180 and oDin fluids from wells in the Los Humeros geothermal field and natural springs are presented. There is no migrated steam (excess steam) in the feeding zone of the productive wells; rather, there is some steam defici.t. The isotopic data (oD and 1)180) suggest a regional replenishment by rainfall. The behavior of oDH20 ,,o180lliO• l)13CcH4 and l)13Cc~ in terms of elevation suggests mixing of at least two different reservoir fluids. A discussion of possible C02 and CH4 origins based on isotopic data is presented.
