Hidrografía y circulación geostrófica en el sur de la Bahía de Campeche

Abstract
An analysis of a data set of temperature, salinity and sigma-t is presented. The data were obtained during the OGMEX I,IT, III, V oceanographic cruises in the southern part of the Bay of Campeche, in February-March, July-August, NovemberDecember 1987 and August 1988 . From the time average of the hydrographic data, a semi-permanent front induced by the river discharge of colder and lower salinity water can be observed. The velocity field at 0, 10 and 20 m depths was obtained by means of a linear inverse model in fmite differences applied to the observational data. Results obtained from the inverse model confirm the existence of a cyclonic eddy in the study area.
