Foreword to the thematic area: “Mathematical and Computational Geophysics”

Abstract

Geofísica Internacional (GI) is a leading Mexican scientific journal that, since its founding in 1961, has served as a cornerstone for the dissemination of geophysical research in Latin America and, increasingly, in other regions of the world. It is published quarterly by the National Autonomous Uni- versity of Mexico (UNAM) through its Geophysics Institute. In recent years, GI has undergone a substantial and for- ward-looking restructuring. Among the most significant changes is the implementation of a new editorial organization  structured around specific Thematic Areas.
