Abstract

We are pleased to introduce this first issue of 2018, which highlights the variety of tapies that our journal can cover. Geofísica Internacional was founded 58 years ago as a scientific journal of the Mexican Geophysical Un ion, edited and published by the Institute of Geophysics of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. For 30 years Geofísica Internacional was a bilingual journal, first printing each artícle in Spanish and English, and later accepting articles in Spanish, English or French. In 1990, funding agencies for scientific journals decided that they should publish only in English. Although this caused sorne reduction in the production of research articles of regional interest, especially Ibero-American, it originated a greater contribution of the international scientific community. In 1990 Geofísica Internacional was included in the Science Citation Index.
