Abstract

A statistical model is proposed to simulate the probability density functions for sunshine duration under the assumption that the sunshine and shade time intervals are distributed exponentially. The respective means t1 and t2 are calculates for the months of the year and hours of day. With these parameters simulations are made compared to measured data. The model can be described as two alternating Poisson processes, Histograms for the observed sunshine duration data are reported.
