Los paleoambientes holocenicos de la laguna babicora, Chihuahua, México

Resumen

En la región semiárida de la Laguna de Babícora, al noroeste del Estado de Chihuahua, se estudiaron ocho perfiles estratigráficos que cubren temporalmente el intervalo del Estadía Isotópico I. La interpretación de los resultados de los análisis edimentológicos, estadísticos, estratigráficos y siete fochamientos de 14C, permiten reconstituir y en algunos casos inferir los paleoambientes desde el Wisconsiniano Tardío hasta el Presente. La cronología paleoambiental propuesta en este trabajo es: (1) de ca. 18 ka. A.P. a ca. 10 ka A.P. ambiente pluvial u Optimo Lacustre; (2) de ca. 10 ka A.P. a ca. 6 ka A.P., disminución de la precipitación y aumento de la temperatura, los ambientes son de tipo pantano; (3) de ca. 6 ka A.P. a 3 ka A.P. las condiciones áridas persisten; sin embargo, las estructuras, la morfología y la sedimentología de los depósitos fluviales sugieren precipitaciones ocasionales abundantes; (4) de ca. 3 ka A.P. al Presente, las condiciones semiáridas que caracterizan en nuestros días la región se instalan, precedidas por una fase de morfocstabilidad manifestada en un paleosuelo (horizonte Bt). De acuerdo con las características paleoambientalcs anteriores, suponemos que las condiciones paleoclimátieas de la región de La Laguna de Babícora fueron similares a las del suroeste de los Estados Unidos; es decir, régimen de lluvias centradas en invierno durante el Wisconsiniano Tardío, y en verano durante el Holoceno.
