Abstract

This book on "The Earth's Magnetic Field (its history, origin and planetary perspective)", by Ronald T. Merrill (University of Washington, Seattle, USA) and Michael W. McElhinny (Mineral Resources Council, Canberra, Australia) is the volume 3 2 of the International Series of Geophysics of the Academic Press publishing house. This Series, edited by W. L. Donn (Columbia University, N. Y., USA) since 1980, has included books such as: "Physics of the Earth's Interior" by B. Gutenberg (1959, vol. 1), "Continental Drift" edited by S. K. Runcorn (1962. vol. 3), J. A. Jacobs's "The Earth's Core" (1975, vol. 20), and M. I. Budyko's "The Earth's Climate: and Future" (1982, vol. 29).
